The Governing Body is the apex authority of the Bangladesh Agricultural University Research System (BAURES). Comprising university leaders, government research directors, and external experts, it ensures efficient research governance, financial oversight, and strategic direction.

Financial & Administrative empowerment
- To approve the annual research projects of BAURES as recommended by the Research Advisory Committee (RAC), and to recommend the annual budget estimates of BAURES to the Finance Committee of BAU for allocation of the necessary funds.
- To recommend the creation of research, technical, administrative, ministerial, or other posts on a permanent basis, and to recommend their abolition or suspension whenever deemed necessary.
- To recommend the appointment of personnel within the Research System based on the recommendations of the selection committee constituted by the Vice-Chancellor for this purpose.
- To recommend the formulation and adoption of rules and regulations necessary for the proper organization, governance, and administration of the Research System.
- To constitute committees and sub-committees, as required, to ensure the smooth and effective functioning of the Research System.
- To receive and accept funds, grants, donations, bequests, awards, and other contributions from the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and/or from national or international organizations and individuals.
- To take necessary initiatives for establishing Research Sub-Stations at suitable geographical locations across Bangladesh in order to strengthen research activities and outreach.
