The Research Advisory Committee (RAC) of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) is constituted to guide, coordinate, and strengthen research planning and administration in accordance with BAURES Ordinance, 1984. The committee plays a pivotal role in shaping the research landscape of the university.

Committee Operational Details

Term of Office

The term of the nominated members is two (2) years from the date of appointment.

Meeting Quorum

One-third of the total members (fraction being counted as one) shall form the quorum for official meetings.

Governing Ordinance

Constituted and operates in accordance with BAURES Ordinance, 1984 and subsequent amendments.

Functions and Powers of RAC

  • to formulate major guidelines for research, planning and administration at BAU.
  • To serve as the budget planning committee for research projects, allocating resources effectively across disciplines.
  • To coordinate research programmes of different disciplines and maintain liaison with national and international research organizations.
  • To recommend research schemes for approval in line with Government guidelines aimed at agricultural development and food security.
  • To constitute technical committees for screening, monitoring, and evaluation of research projects when necessary.
  • To recommend creation or abolition of research-related posts to the Governing Body based on current and future needs.
  • To take any other steps necessary to improve and maintain the standard of research at the University, fostering innovation.
